Keyset

Terms of service

Last updated October 27, 2026

By opening an account or using Keyset you agree to these terms.

What Keyset is

Keyset is software for keeping a rental in order. It is not a landlord, a property manager, a bank or a law firm, and it is not a party to any lease made through it.

Your account

  • Keep your sign-in to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
  • Put in information that is true, and only information you have the right to share.
  • Don't use Keyset to break the law, to harass anyone, or to discriminate against tenants or applicants.

Leases and documents

Keyset's standard lease, renewal and notices are templates, not legal advice. A landlord is responsible for the lease they use and for following the laws where the property is; have a lawyer review a lease before relying on it. Documents signed in Keyset are signed electronically and are binding on the people who sign them.

Payments

Online rent and deposit payments are made through Stripe, directly between the tenant and the landlord's own Stripe account, under Stripe's terms. Keyset does not hold the money and is not responsible for a payment that is late, returned or disputed. Rent recorded by hand is the landlord's and tenant's own record.

Availability

Keyset is provided as it is, and may change. We work to keep it running and your records safe, but cannot promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. Keep your own copies of anything important; Keyset lets you download them.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Keyset is not liable for indirect losses, or for more than what you paid Keyset in the last twelve months.

Ending

You can stop using Keyset at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms.
